Started another BBO today

Click on the first picture below for video.

Osage backed with Boo.

Have to wear protection now because of facial reactions from wood dust, IPE messed me up and it comes back real easy with other wood dusts that never bothered me before. I am not gonna quit making bows ever:)

And no comments from the peanut gallery either:) LOL

Man, that thing brings back horrible memories!  I used to finish cabinets, and when I first started we were in an non-air-conditioned metal shop.  I spent two long years in a spray booth wearing long pants, long sleeves, gloves, a respirator, face mask, and hood while it was 95 degrees outside and so humid you could drink the air.  Looks like your shop is quite nice, however.  Noticed an air conditioner and dust collector...and those walls are CLEAN!

Looking forward to seeing how your bow comes out!    :)

Been a while but got back to it. Been canning hot peppers and hot sauce past few weeks:) Bow in foreground is 64 tip to tip osage backed with boo. This is the bow glued up in the form above.

Osage and boo to the left is gonna be 70 tip to tip, my longest bow to date. Just wanna try one that long. Limb on bow on right isn't twisted, just bad camera angle.

Just sitting on the tillering tree, needs facets cut in  and the handle leveled a tad to get her sitting level before I start tillering.

Went with a shorter horn tip over lay on this one, only 1 1/2 but should be plenty long enough.

Someday would love to find the wood to try one.
Looks like yours is on the way to a good bow.
What weight are you looking for?

Keep the pictures coming.

Roy, looks good so far. Like I told you I have a hard time tillering R/D style bows so I don't make many. Looking forward to following your progress.
On the 70"er, you may want to narrow the limbs a bit out of the fades. No need for that much width with that long of a bow.

Roy will you sand the "nodes" off the boo or leave them? does removing them effect the final draw weight?

Got ya Pat, thanks for the advice and will do. I just sand the rough edge off the nodes leaving a small hump. Doesn't affect the weight at all. Shooting for 50 pounds on the 64, about 46 on the 70 incher.

Got the facets roughed in and the belly side of the handle leveled out, trapped it a bit too. Pulled it to about 3 inches of limb tip movement. Already have the string nocks cut in, I like to pull a bow from where the string is really going to be, instead of the long tillering string out the on the ends of the limb tips. Looking sweet so far.
