Simple project for the new year
« on: December 31, 2006, 09:25:00 AM »
I had been looking for something to wipe the dirt and mud off my arrows (other than my pantleg) and remembered the traditional archery tassel.

They still sell them in the UK but, not in the US.

Michael's Craft store had a sale on 100% wool yarn  for less than $5.00 a skein last week. I bought black and blue for string silencers. That was more yarn than I'll ever need.

So I decided to make my own tassel. I used an antler tip to secure it under the belt and twisted up a leather thong and threw a Turk's head around the tassel. I think it turned out pretty nice.

It sure did.

I use a crappy rag and cram it in my pocket.  Seems my boneheaded buddies never think of one so I am always being the good guy and wiping the mud off their arrows for them.

Heehee! Great if the cap also promotes the "other guy's team"! I use the back of my pants leg, behind the knee. 'Least I did before Bob Walker gave me a purty tassel!

Beautiful job on this one, and the colors sing!

My friend makes all sorts of leather stuff and he gave me one of those for Christmas this year! I hope I never have to use it but it looks sweets on my belt!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback. I might make up a couple for the next St. Judes Auction.

I can't believe that you want to wipe mud on something that pretty.  If I had one of those, I'd still use my pant leg.
