1st and second bow
« on: August 30, 2010, 12:22:00 AM »
Ok I lied a little, my "1st bow" was a red oak board bow that exploded when I strung it to brace height. anyway here are the first successful shooters. let me know what ya think.
these are maple board bows with a zebrawood riser and tips. the snake skin looking one is backed with fiberglass fabric and is 53# at 28", the camo one in ripstop nylon from some old pants and is 57# at 28". I made both of these in about a week, I think I'm hooked!     :archer:

There you go! next time I'll have my wife take the full draw pics, 12sec on the camera delay feels like forever holding almost 60#.  :)

You might want to wait a few seconds before drawing them with the timer.  It could be bad for the bow holding it at full draw for that long.

Nice looking bows, srtben. This bow making is definitely addictive. I like the backings.
