arrow weight

wood like to no what wood be a good arrow weight for 52 pound bow for deer, black bear, elk & wood 50 to 52 pounds be good for elk & arrow weight.

9-10 grains per pound(~450-500gr) would be a good start. You could go slightly lighter or much heavier. I think most anything above 450gr should be sufficient.

thank you for your input/ as i am new to trad. my arrow weight is 525 grains. 19/16 wiyh weight tubes & 125 grain tip.

I posted the same question recently.With most hunters saying 600grains or above is better. I've never hunted elk with trad gear yet, but i will be in september(can't wait)  Good luck!!!

Keep in mind that with elk, penetration is very important and they are much bigger than deer. I went to two blade heads for that reason and they have been great. I've shot about (quit counting a long time ago)15 elk. Gary

thanks elkkrazy8 I am also going on my first elk hunt in mountana in september (can't wait). I have been trad shooting for about 7 mounts & shoot every day 'so i hope i will be ready. best of luck to you & be safe.

thanks sagebrush.I asked because i have all ways for 30 years shoot compounds & now i went to trad & i can only shoot 50 pound & was not shore if that was enough & arrow weight. right now my arrows 525 grains.
