Smooth Graceful Risers
« on: October 08, 2010, 03:28:00 PM »
I'm about to build my first of many take-down recurves and long bows. I have been studying riser shapes, trying to determine what I really want in a riser. I like a low wrist grip more like a long bow, and I want the lines to flow gracefully with a minimum of sharp angles. I just looked at a Silver Fox that a member had and loved it. Does any one have any pics handy to let me see and hopefully get some ideas. I'm not going to copy everything maybe just an idea. Like my Daddy said "If your going to build a barn then talk to as many barn builders as you can" That's what I'm trying here. Thanks

Well your daddy is a smart guy and yes it is true!

As for pics there are about a billion all over the internet.  Also it doesn't matter at all how you build your riser someone else already built it that way so you can help but copying!  After all, there are a few ways you can design a hubcap but in the end there is only one way to make a wheele right?

look at the big guys bows and try to get close.  Look right at the top of the page you are on and look at the bows of guys like Zipper, Rose Oak, H&S, Blackwidow, ETC!!!!!  Good luck and post pics of your bow when it is done!  Only advice I have is don't go way overboard on the fit and finish of your very first bow it just might not work out if you try to get real complicated.....
