Can Anyone make me a riser like this?
« on: October 24, 2010, 01:12:00 PM »
Dave Guthrie no longer makes Appalation bows. I have a set of limbs that I'd like to build a riser for just like this and I have no clue on the art of bow making. Want it just like this Savage River takedown riser, but to match an existing set of limbs. Have a huge heavily grained chunk of cocobolo that has dried for about 5 years ready to go. Anybody willing???????

I can but it would cost as much as a new bow. I doubt that the bowyer made every riser identicle. It looks like a nice custom and most guys that build those do like I do and each one is a bit different. I hope you can find someone but no one comes to mind except perhaps Droptine. God bless you and good luck with it. Steve

Thats my problem Sixby. I gave the riser to a guy many moons ago to refinish and never saw it again. I have the limbs, and shot my first trad animal with them.
I bought this bow hoping my limbs would fit but alas, no deal. The bow shoots okay with the limbs, but they overhang a bit. makes me nervous.....I'd love to get a cocobolo riser made just like the one that dissapeared.
