ok , heres a pic instead of the video. this is with a low brace of 1-2 inches , cause thats all i could manage without a stringer...


which raises the question , how does it look. and does everyone use a stringer or am i just weak as all get out...

I can't see the pics but 1" to 2" of brace is all you need now. You can tell how the string tracks and if there is any limb twist. You can put it on the tiller tree and get an accurate reading even at this low brace. As you tiller it out you will be able to handle it better.

i sure hope so , i couldnt get it to that low brace for the life of me. i really thought i was a weakling.

im picking up some paracord tomorrow if gander mountain doesnt have any b50 layin around , and im going to work on trying to figure out where to find some small pieces of leather to make a stringer from.

and yeah , i dont see the pic now either...lets see...

Hova old boot have leather on them, I use the tongue of them if in need thinner leather. I have a few old combat boots around in black back home.

Tiller looks good so far. If you shorten the tiller string so it just fits between the nocks you will get a better reading until you can get her braced.

yeah its actually like 2" shorter , but its very stretchy , thats why there are two extra loops tied in the one end , it was so stretchy. im getting some waxed polyester sometime here very shortly , and some paracord for a stringer. i also have to mount the stick in the basement since winter is close at hand , and i need to get a pulley so i can stand back and look.

it feels a lot better than the red oak board that i broke felt , this is very strong , and isnt creaking or ticking... i figured it was just what they do , as wood creaks sometimes , but i think it was the faults comin through...


ill keep yall updated once i get her close to done. still gotta get some green tints , and some darker tints. gonna go with the suburst effect but in green, along with a little graffiti on the belly (its for the wife so i doubt it will go in the woods with me)

Regarding a stringer...
I am working on my 4th bow right now. Bows 1 - 3 all broke while being re-strung during the tillering process using the step through method. I had no idea that there was such a thing as a stringer at that point.

Bow number 4 has survived several stringings with a stringer and it looks like it will live as long as I don't tiller it down to paper while trying to get it even...

Use a stringer.

meh , i figured out my limbs were way off thickness from each other , after correcting that , i went to the craft store , and got some artificial sinew and made myself a flemish , and made a stringer just out of some nylon braid , like boat cord.


also figured how much easier it is to put the string over both sides , instead of trying to put one over the top of the nock...


and i left the short string on while doing tillering. i ended up just using mostly sandpaper to tiller , and with no scale , it goes to 28" (wifes draw) with what im guessing is around 40ish , and then at 30 (my ear-side draw) , it feels ridiculously more than 28"...

i have been shooting it the past couple days , and im getting bit to all hell by the string , but i dont have a rest or handle yet , its still 1 3/4" wide where the handle is...
