hunting pac
« on: November 21, 2010, 10:10:00 PM »
maybe not exactly the right spot- but seeing as its built from scratch- not trading i figured this would be a good place to start.
i wanna build a "trad" hunting pack.
steam bent frame( ash) with a removeable pac- to pack out the meat( eternal optimist!!!!!) with quick  de-tachable "cat quiver" for stalks etc.
for multi day hunts etc- so the question is, what would be the right fabric (and where can i get it) for the pac. strong and super waterproof and silent.
it rains here a lot during the winter- nice warm gentle rain- everything soft and quite- jus great.
thank
wayne

You could go to a tent maker and get their heaviest stuff.  Even if white, should be easy to give it some color.  Some of the bp trekkers use thompsons water seal to water proof this type of fabric for shelters.  Might work for your pac too.

I'd like to read more and see some pics as you work on the frame!
