My first bow completed!!
« on: January 25, 2011, 09:23:00 PM »
I just finished my first bow! It is an ash board bow for my youngest son. I used black cherry for the tips and the handle
It ended up at 18 lbs at 23"draw and has a 2" set. I had issues tillering it and decided to go through the whole process even though the limbs don't bend quite right.
Here are some pictures.

Thanks, The tillering is weak in the middle of each limb, and stiff in the middle and the tips. I didn't want make it any lighter draw weight. So I kind of just stopped, sanded and finished it. I'm planning on doing a much better job on the next one that I'll be starting soon.

Yes I chased a ring here's the end view of the board.  Yes those are insect holes in the end. I didn't realize that's what they were until I really got into it.

Here is a picture at full draw 23" both limbs are weak in the middle. I'm hoping it will be okay for awhile.   The top limb is on the right.
