how to build a bow vice-clamp

to be honest i'm not sure on the right name for it but i would like to know if anyone has a plan for building a vise - clamp for stipping the bark etc from osage and to hold it for the shaping of the bow

I think he's talking about a stave press?
Just google stave press and look at their design. If you have access to a welder and some 4x4 or larger square tubing, or can make your own you can make one of these presses. They aren't complicated at all. If I had the materials I could make my own, but I can't afford the materials right at the moment. Soon though......very soon!

Weird. I just built one today and thought about doing a build along but didn't.
Well, Here's some pics of it anyway.
Just a bunch of 2x4's. Cost me about $15 I think.
       
     
That should read the pivot hole is 16" from the end of the bench.
   

   
     

I didn't make legs because I had those stumps.
Google will get you some great plans too!

Yep I like, been thinking of building one but my shop is getting cramped now and evicting my gold wing is out of the question. This will fold up and stand in the corner. I think I can deal with that.

It's in file form that you will need to open, and I didn't open or look at it, but here's the link to it. Let us know how it goes.
