Texas Osage
« on: February 24, 2011, 07:32:00 PM »
Having a couple of board bows under my belt I'm thinking it's time to step up to ring chasing...I know Texas is full of Osage, Mulberry and others but I am just too busy to go tree hunting. Does anyone know of a source near Houston for staves?

Col HJ- There is a guy who sells them in Canton at the First Monday "swap meet" or whatever they call it. I also have some fresh billets I am working on. There's a guy in or near Crockett as well. I need to ask my fatherinlaw though.

If or when your ready I can put a stave in your hands, just let me know. Shipping may be cheaper than the gas money spent driving all around trying to find some in your area, but it would be nice if you could find somebody who has a stash where you could hand pick your own.

Shipping has never been more than $28 bucks and that was all the way up to Oregon and Washington upper West coast.

Thanks for the kind referrence Dave.

Man I can't remember his name, but I did speak with a man and his son at HEB there in Athens about it on my last deer trip to the property there off FM4520.
