rubber band form or air hose form?

Just getting started on building up tools and parts to try a glass backed bow. I would like to see wich form everyone felt was the best to start with Ruber band or air hose style.

I think the air hose is more expensive but you will get great results from this method. Everything I have tried that was not the air hose gave me little waves in the glass where there was uneven pressure during glue up, with the air hose I get smooth looking limbs every time. It looks to follow in bow making that spending the extra time and money will make a more consistent and better product.

Both have their merits- all mine are the hose type- that was how I built my first one - so all the rest have been made that way too. I know others who use the rubber band method with great results. One advantage of the rubber band method-the form is one piece- no top&bottom.

Ive never used the rubber band style but it seems it would be impossible even with a pressure strip to get equal pressure all the way accross the bow.

If you look, you can tell who uses rubberbands and who uses airhose. the band ones are wavy. Ive tried every way Ive ever seen, and always come back to the airhose.

I'm in no way saying you cant make a perfect bow with the rubber band style, there are many guys on here that do. It just seems more logical that the hose method would appy pressure more evenly.
