Good table saw for bow building?
« on: March 10, 2011, 07:22:00 PM »
My little Delta "home owner" table saw is about gone. I want to get something that will handle cutting backing, ripping plywood and other task without straining is's heart out  :D  . I don't want to spend 500.00 but there has to be something better than I have, without breaking the bank. Thanks, Don

I have a 10" Makita portable table saw that does pretty good but the fence is small. I really prefer the bigger saws for the better fence systems.  If I would be getting a new table saw on that budget, I think I would look at the Dewalt or Rigid portable units.

I have a 12” cabinet saw,   :D
Unfortunately, since I moved, there isn’t room for it in my garage with all the other tools.   :(
Until the time comes that there is room for my big one I use a fifteen-year-old 10” DeWalt that has an excellent fence system.  Check Craigslist, locally here in Montana there are several 10” contractor models, made by decent manufactures, listed a couple of times each week between $100-400.  As with any used equipment, check it good before buying.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
