Need a pep talk guys
« on: March 20, 2011, 03:24:00 PM »
Blew up two yew bows this week and I'm ready to throw a fit. I'll post some pics in a few days. Got me down.

I know why the first one blew but the one that blew today was tillered out to 28.5 and I had about 40 or 50 arrows through it was shooting it today and.... Pow! the rest is history. Blew right out the fade area. Got me wondering if maybe I didn't get a hold of some crap wood. I really don't know But I'm going fishing the rest of the day and going to move on to another one tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this Kris.   Maybe you ought to give the yew a breather and work with something more familiar.

Hey sticks just remember if you aint breaking them you aint makin them. Plus I have never made on shoot any arrows yet. I am hoping that osage will change that. Have fun fishing and hope the next bow calls out and you find it.

I hear ya guys. I'm over it now just had to vent.

Pat I'm gonna finish up a couple osage staves I got going. I got one more yew stave and I put it in the corner. LOL I talked with Keenan today and from what he explained to me the stave had wind shake according to the way it broke.

Kelly, I was shooting it and she blew around 50 or so shots. Here lately I been breaking so I guess the next few I'll be makin'   :bigsmyl:

I ain't giving up on the yew, I love the looks of a good yew longbow. Got some more coming so we'll what happens down the road.
