Have you made many bows? What is your experience level?

Hello b.glass!
My experience level is zero. But I think the Kodiak Special 1957 is a classic in it's form and simplicity, so I would like to try this one.     ;)

I know for sure that 1957 was an awsome year. (The year I was born,  :) !). I bet if you research some of the build alongs on here you would find one that comes close. I am a wood bowyer so I'm not of much help. Can you post pictures of what you are looking for?

What you need is one of the bows that you want to replicate.  Use the bow itself to draw a form profile,  Take all pertinent measurements;  width at various points and thickness of limbs as well as rate of taper, length of riser.

If I had access to one, I'd happily provide all but I don't have one!

Hi Peter,
I don't have the measurements of the Kodiak Special 1957. But I have some information about building glass bows on my web site that might be of interest for you. Check it out at

 www.swissbow.com  ( in the download section )

Read as much recurve build alongs you can find here on tradgang. A lot of great information about how to build them. Check out the build alongs of bjansen, he has done some awesome recurves that come close to the one your looking for.
