I am considering buying an older bow a ben pearson pony for my fiancee...she wants to shoot a recurve and i don't have a lot of money to spend right now..found a lefty on ebay, light poundage so it looks good...question..says this bow can be shot either right ot left handed..the picture is hard to see but it does not look like a regular handle innthe riser section...it looks like something sticking out of the wraped grip for a shelf...so my question is..does this bow have a normal shelf like any other bow?

I bought an old(1920's) Indian Archery bow that had a similiar arrow rest.  I also bought a Ben Pearson Colt 47#'s that has the same type of rest.
