Is there a safe/effective way of lowering a recurve by 5 or 6 pounds and if so is there someone who can do it in a timely manner and get it back to me

It would be best to send it back to the bowyer who built the bow. He's records will show how much he took off the glass when he set the weight its at now.

Mike just gave you good solid advise here.... but if the original bowyer isn't available to do so i would gladly look at it for you and see if it's feasible.
i can be reached through my website, or just give me a call. Kirk
