Hey Pete, just one last note.
You said you used inner tubes, ever try this?
I glued up a Hybrid R/D design on my caul using Osage and a Bamboo backing. Came out fine and I'm still shooting it. I could have used a stiffer caul form overlay, but hindsight is 20/20 right?
Anyway, with a harder cushion on my caul like a stiff rubber compound to soften the clamp squeeze on the boo nodes, I think this will be the ticket to making that next step into "Bowyerism" of all wood without the glass?
I'm about as far as I can go, or care to go, without using glass. My bows are still all wood and I finally reached Bear Grizzly velocities with a bow I made in my garage.
