Fullerplast problems need advise

Iv sprayed 3 bows last month with fullerplast satin and I just don't think I'm gettin the results I know others are gettin with it.  I mix it 16 to 1 and thin about 1/3 with the sealer coats bein thinned a little more.  About 2 sealer coats then 4 coats and a final frosting coat.  I wait an hour between spraying coats.  The finish on these bows is not very tough, they feel dry and look great but they scratch and nick very easy.  Its not gooey at all but u can take your finger nail and scratch the finish, in my opinion that's not tough at all.  What do yal think I'm doin wrong?  Should I wait even longer between coats?  I know I'm gettin the mix right because I pay very close attention when measuring.  Should I add more catalyst than it calls for?

Your mix should be fine, it will scratch with 1 hour set up time. If you let it dry for 24 hours it will be set up.Then you can go over it with 0000 steelwool to polish it out.

I am not knocking FP but I have had the same issues. Ihave only two bows that it has held up good on and I dont shoot them much.
I have started using M L Campbell Krystal. Like any other CV you cant get it too thick on the limb faces--5 mil. But this stuff is pretty much a no brainer to apply and can be thinned with slow lacquer thinner. They have a leveller sealer that is great on porus woods also. You recoat in 15 mins. I usally go an hour. It can be steel wooled or wet sanded with good results. When you run out of FP give it try I dont think you will go back.  web page

I quit using FP years ago for the same reason, stuff is Not durable at all,scratches easy and won't bond well to the glass and flakes off over time. Thunderbird for me, Tuff as nails looks great.

Can you still do the frosted type non glare finish with Tbird?

Ah T-bird. The best finish durabilty wise out there. BUT---
You can buy four times as much Krystal for the same money. And it takes T-bird seven days for a full cure.

T-bird epoxy works very well with a frosted finish. I turn the air pressure down to 20 psi, close the spray pattern valve and go fast.
I had similiar problems with fullerplast chipping off glass and scratching easily. I have used T-bird epoxy for 8 years and doubt I will ever switch.

X2 Tried them all.  Krystal is by far the best and easiest to work with!

With most finishes, gloss gives you a harder finish than satin.  It is usually best to do your build coats with gloss and then if you want matte or satin, only use it for the final coat.

Is there any place online to order Krystal from?  There's a place here by me that sells it but iv got to fill out a credit application and everything just to pay cash for one gallon.
