Riser pieces
« on: July 02, 2011, 03:31:00 PM »
Where would a guy find a couple of chuncks of wood for riser material? Other than 3 rivers. I am looking for something that is kinda curly/nasty looking. It is for a couple of board bows that are finally in the works. Any and all info appreciated. Thanks, Mike. By the way the boards are Red Oak and the more contrasting the better.

Check Rockler or other woodcraft suppliers nearby.  You've got a Tool Haus that is associated with Rockler in Gladwin, and there is another complete Rockler center somewhere in MI.  I've been to the one near here and plan to go back and load up on riser woods.  They have lots of small pieces in a variety of species.  Good luck!

I've got lots of chunks of osage off fall from end cuts if you need some of that, but it sounds like the marblewood that Stone has would be much prettier grained than the osage I have cause mine is fairly straight grained.
