Does anyone have any experience with installing the bow bolt on a bow that is already made?  I recently bought one but don't want to waste a good bow.  Any one do it already ?  :help:

I did this on a R/D Long Bow that I built. It turned out great. My suggestion is to contact the maker to get his input. He has alot of good tips to make the installation a success. Make sure you let him know what the riser design is and what type of material it is made of since some materials and designs lend themselves better to the limb bolt.

I'm wanting to do this to a Great Plains Rio Bravo Longbow.  I'm not a big fan of real long longbows.  This one is 66", real long as far as I'm concerned.  But after shooting this bow it has become one of my favorites.  I'd like to be able to take it down for traveling purposes but I'd sure hate to ruin such a good shooting bow.  I've already got a bow bolt.  Do you think it would be good to mount it in a self made selfbow using something like Tite-bond just to test it out.  Then I could take it apart and use the bolt in the G.P. bow?????What do ya think?

Be careful. Risers that haven't been designed for takedowns may not be strong enough.

If there is a considerable amount of glass or phenolic in the riser and the draw weight is not too high, you would be ok.
