I have a couple of slippery elm and pecan trees that my dad wants to cut. Both will make good backing strips for lam bows corect? If I do not plan on making self bows from these and plan to plank out and dry, then cut into lams does it matter when I cut? I also plan on cutting osage this winter for staves and belly lams and have cherry as well. It would be nice to cut them all this winter while it is cool and be done with it till they are dry. I will cut some more hickory or pecan this spring for staves.
