A quick fix?
« on: October 13, 2011, 07:39:00 PM »
I am working on a holmegaard bow which has one of the limbs near the tip weak. This is due to the fact that the stave was very small, and the person who made it cut it out on a saw instead of a traditional split stave. It is very thin, and weak on one of the limbs tips about 8 inches from the nock. It is very narrow because it is a holmegaard. How should I fix it? I was thinking about wrapping that whole part of the limb in sinew. Would this work? I wouldn't mind the "primitive look" it's actually what I am going for.

Chris, if it's weak enough that it is starting to hinge might want to consider adding some glued on wood and then wrap with sinew.
