Elm board bow problem
« on: October 14, 2011, 08:26:00 PM »
I bought a red elm board. I started chasing a ring and noticed thant a line ran off the bottom side of the board. about at  the mid part of the linb. the board is 66" long. Do u think than i could still make a safe bow?  Maybe a sinew backed or wrapped at the transition? Should i wait until i find a better piece?
smooth seas never made a skillful sailer.

Go for it, you will always have grain runs outs on bow wood. Just have fun.
