veneer backing question

Ive seen some beautiful veneers at the wood shop. My question is can i back a bow with it. Eventhough i can make out which way the grain is running. Would it lead to a brake? Its going to be used for looks. Not as a true backing.

If you are putting it under glass it doesn't matter much but for backing a wood bow you want the correct grain configuration.
