How about another board bow?
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:14:00 AM »
Thanks to this site, I have now made my first bow.  I have also learned the hard way how quickly a belt sander can take off material, so it ends up being my wife's bow now.  It draws 30# @ 28".  It is backed with hand painted silk, and keeps about 1" of set.

The handle is cherry and maple, wrapped in deer skin.  I have left a strand of sinew hanging for some glass beads that are yet to be made.

The knot work is hand done by my wife, her own design.  The top has an eagle, and the bottom has a snake eating a man (hard to make out unless you have it in your hand).

I've got to figure out the macro setting for the camera so I can show the tips better, no luck on non-blurry pics yet.

I have learned so much from just reading through the wealth of threads here, and am very grateful for all who have posted their knowledge.  Hopefully in a few years, I may be one of those passing it along.

Well it looks great, and you know you made it light on purpose so you could make another. Now where is the full draw profile pic. That is the money shot and what we really like seeing here.

It sure is an addiction worth keeping. I had the same issue with my first bow, and sure enough, it ended up being my wife's valentine's day gift.

I too would like to see a strung and full draw picture.
I humbly follow in the learned footsteps of those who precede me.

Ask and ye shall receive:

Tiller not perfect, got some learning to do there experience-wise, but...
It shoots well for the weight it pulls.

Trying to get a closeup of the grip:

I named her Teacher:

Kelly, Roy- thanks for the kind words.  Jon- I have seen some of your progress from the older posts, I can hope to move along so well...

Now, on to the next few boards, maybe I can get one in my draw weight now.   :D

Well, coming from you, Roy, I guess I'll have to change my opinion on the matter.  Thanks for the input.
