Osage Please?
« on: November 09, 2011, 10:48:00 PM »
I have had my hands on exactly one osage stave and I turned it into a decent bow which went to our own Chisler in the recent bow swap.  I sure would like an osage bow of my own.  I ordered some bamboo to build a couple BBI's and figured that while I am at it I would like to build myself a BBO. I LOVE THAT SHULZ AMERICAN LONGBOW so I plan on building one similar.  Problem is I have no OSAGE lol...Anybody have a 2x2x36 board they would like to part with?  Please PM me if you wanna work a deal....

Check with Roy, he has a supplier from another site, who he gets his boards from. Can't remember his name off the top of my head. Of course he might not share his info with anyone who gives him any amount of grief, being old and crotchety and all.  :)

I will find some. I have ipe to keep me busy until then too.  Roy ya say eh. I think Roy HATES ME...he thinks I am a girly man and probably doesnt even think I could pull back a bow made from wood as dense as osage. I will drop him a PM tonight though...who couldnt use some cash coming in to Christmas I suppose. I am gonna whip on down to our local hardwood supplier too and see if they have any....dont remember seeing anywhen I was down there last time but they sure had some beautiful ebony that I almost bought.

Coasters...now THERE is an idea.  I do so hate those nasty little beer rings on my fine Pier One imported furniture.

Thats kinda purty for a little 15 pounder.  I bet your grandkids LOVE that bow.  Did ya see or get anything?  Ifn ya did I will pop open a raspberry twisted tea (wife bought them and I think they are gross but I am saving my raspberry beer for when or if HOVA ever finishes his committment to the bow swap) The one I sent Chisler in your beloved PA is the first Osage I have ever made...it was great wood to work and I cannot wait to coat the garage floor with more of that yellow dust.  Now where is the coasters?

Hey Roy..

Made contact with "the source" and it looks like he may have a couple of osage slats he will sell me.  Got the bamboo delivered yesterday while we were in Bozeman for the state Volleyball tournamnet. My son woke up...looked at the wind blowing 45 to 50 with gusts to 75 and said DAD,...lets sleep in and try this afternoon.  LOL.
