pics of takedown longbow risers needed.

Getting ready to start my 1st takedown long bow kit from bingham. The plans show a pretty plain riser. I'd like some input on a better looking shape. I'll be using grey action wood. Thanks.

Here's a pic of my St. Charles with a socket type T/D system. I'll try to post pix of my Pronghorn 3-pc later. Hope it helps.

Here Ya go, Grey actionwood straight from Bingham's,built it last week, used a recurve block and cut it to 16" to get the grip the way I wanted, used the pronounced longbow design, but tweaked it a little for a more elliptical curve, sure shoots good,...... There isn't anything like shooting a bow you've built yourself..................Steve

I just finished this one, 16" riser made from 2 1/4" square pau ferrau, used the same limb form with heat strips, they are worth every cent.

Wow! Nice! Hey Voodoofire, are those deer tracks drawn on the riser or burnt?

Thanks Guys! Yes I carved them with a Dremel, but they are colored with brown Rit dye. The bows are fairly easy to make, but are very tedious, especially the risers, the longer you take the better they look. I just purchased a edge/spindle sander and that has helped out considerably, really cut the shaping time in half, I like both riser designs, but I'm leaning towards #2 with a slight tweak to make it thicker between the grip and lower limb pad, as it stands now the #2 is slightly top heavy, and I'd like to have a little more weight down low for proper balance, but it sure shoots good!.Steve

here's a few of my Pronghorn riser. Simple, but elegant. The grip fits my hand better than any I have tried.
