clear glass spots
« on: January 02, 2012, 07:35:00 PM »
Have any of you guys had problem with gluing up a limb using clear glass then seeing some spots in the curve on the limb? If so how do you fix this and what causes it? I don't get them all the time but once in awhile I will get a limb or two with them..

It's imperfections in the glass that you don't notice until after it's glued and baked.  They shouldn't cause any problems, but it is annoying. A dark colored lamination or veneer makes them show more than a light colored lamination.

If it is always in the same place on the bow
(curve in the limb), it may be not enough squeeze there.

Otherwise probably like John said and just some spots in the clear glass that don't show til too late.

Very annoying ,but hard to catch til glued ...
Stay sharp, Kenny.
