Red oak, 3/4" in. thick, edge grain, coat in canola oil then heat and slowly apply clamps. Take your time clamping down and keep heating the whole time. It's much easier then it sounds
No cracks, about 1/4" of springback. I put my main clamp 4" from the tip.
