superglue....meh!
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:23:00 PM »
I bought a used recurve that I like, but the other guy put on a leather handle, and used spots of superglue on it. I have tried SG remover, Gel SG remover, Denatured alcohol, and nail polish remover. Nothing cuts the stuff. Any ideas or secret formulas?
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

Brute force. Carfully applied.
Then file/sand/scrape clean.

Heat may work but it will flame some other parts first.

Acetone breaks down superglue.  But it also may break down the bow finish.

Razor blade and steady hands. Then fine sand the leather/glue off.

John, I seriously doubt there is any way possible to remove the sg without doing some touchup on the finish. Once the stuff has set up it's part of whatever it is attached to.
