Osage Cache (pic heavy)
« on: March 10, 2012, 09:20:00 PM »
It's pretty rare to find Osage in my area. Several months back I went for a walk in an area that I use to bow hunt, because I thought I remembered seeing Osage along the edge of the timber. Sure enough, I found them! I finally talked to the landowner today and he gave me permission to cut the dead stuff, plus a few other pieces.

Here is part of what I brought back today, and I have another load yet to go. I wasn't sure if the dead stuff would be good yet or not, but after spitting some of the pieces today. I think I will have bow wood for a long time. Now I can get to work on the bows for my grandchildren. Plus keep me supplied for years to come.

I'll be going back tomorrow to get the rest that is still on the ground, I have a load the size of what I already brought home today. I have plenty of splitting yet to do!

I take for granted that I have a large supply of the stuff.  I went to get a log last weekend and my go to guy didn't have any more of the stuff.  Nice haul.  Don't forget to spray it for bugs.
