Turkey feather question
« on: May 03, 2012, 07:30:00 AM »
I have a sinew back mulberry that is dying for something different. Seen a couple of bows backed with turkey feathers and I think this bow is gonna get some of that. Has anyone tried it and what glue is the best to use.

Check this thread out:

He used Elmer's glue, I've seen where another guy used TB I to put them down.  The above link (second page) gives a fairly decent amount of info on how he applied the feathers, too.  Found out from him he used about 200 feathers....  His looks pretty amazing, though.  Good luck and post pics  :) .

WOW that is lovely - I can just imagine how those feathers must shimmer in the sun.  Can someone post some details on feather prep? I would guess that you trim off as much stem as possible - flatten the rest? I want to try, so cool.
