I've used fairly small two-blade heads, 5/16 Zwickey Eskimos and Magnus IIs on cedar forgewoods. Have worked well for me. Thinking of using a Howard Hill head this year. I agree that you don't have to worry about shooting through them, even with a small head. Turkeys don't have the mass of a deer so when the arrow strikes them, it moves their body away from the force of the impact, reducing penetration. I'm always torn between using what I'm using and using bigger heads. My brother lost a bird last year shooting a 4 blade Zwickey. Just hit the bird a little high, probably in the wing butt. Bowled the bird over, but it ran off before he could clear the blind to finish it off. Very heavy cover. Maybe a smaller blade would have slipped into the body cavity. Don't know. Shot probably killed the bird, but we couldn't find it. As always, shot placement is the key. Unfortunately, a turkey's kill zone is quite small.
