Rush Hour 3: Got her done in time for the shoot!
« on: June 01, 2012, 02:27:00 AM »
About a week and a half ago I decided I wanted to build a new bow in time for an upcoming shoot in OR this weekend.  She's a little short on finish but it's as good as its going to get because she's shootable in time for an 8:30 departure tomorrow morning.  Only had to redo the riser from scraps once (first go was solid Coco and it fell off the bench and broke the freshly ground tips off), and only missed the intended draw weight (30#) by 5.  Clear glass over Pacific Yew limbs, riser of Cocobolo, Yew, Aromatic Cedar, Bamboo, and Cocobolo.  25# @ 28", 64" nock to nock.  Working back from a shoulder injury and she's perfect for me.

Nice job, sorry to hear about your riser.. Maybe you can redo the fades and add a power lam to stack to make riser work on the next one??  I keep an extra riser and veneers  ready to  go in my shop just in case of an accident during glue up..they might not match but I can get the bow glued up.
