First Glass R/D success with finished pics
« on: June 28, 2012, 11:20:00 PM »
Hi All,

Here she is.  45 pounds at 26 inches. Two tapered (.002 for each) bamboo lams and one maple parallel.  The riser is maple and walnut.

For the finish I used a few coats of tru-oil on the woods and then 3 coats of gloss wipe on poly.

full draw

riser

tips

Took it to the shop the other day.  It shot a 455 grain arrow at 159 fps.  I'm pretty happy with its looks and performance.  And I've already got version number 2 ready to have the limbs tapered.

I'm in Boulder, CO.  Here's a pic of the Flagstaff fire.  I took this pic from my deck the other day.  And this fire is tiny compared the one they are dealing with in Colorado Springs.

The fire fighters deserve a big thank you for the work they do.  And good luck and best wishes to all touched by these fires.

(to give you an idea of the size of the fire in CO Springs...I could see the smoke cloud from my office the other day...my office is over 80 miles from the fire!!!!)

Looks great!
I wish my first bow turned out that nice.  It kind of resembled a 2 x 4 with slightly rounded edges.

I really like the slender riser design.  That is a nice one for your first.

Now if you have problems stopping just call 1-800-I CAN'T STOP BUILDING BOWS.  :help:

Thank you....but I may have mislead with the title...this is glass bow number 4....its just the first one I consider successful.

The first one wasn't even shootable...big gaps in the lams....the second sort of shot, but the tiller was horrible and the third was just plan ugly.

I've got bow #5 glued up and out of the form.  We'll see how it turns out  :)

Sweet looking bow. Let me know if you need someone to test it out on a few pesky elk up here in the Glenwood area.
