Sal, I was thinking the same thing. Glad to have some confirmation.
I went overboard with the attempted repair, figuring if I'm going to try to fix it I might as well really go for it - CA glue in the crack, wrapped with art. sinew covered in more CA glue, then wrapped in drywall mesh covered with Titebond 3, more art. sinew, soaked with more Titebond. Writing it out makes it seem kind of nuts :-)
After 24 hours I put it on the tillering tree and drew it (with a pulley, from a distance) about a hundred times, holding it at full draw several times for 30 seconds or so. After it survived that, I got the nerve to draw it myself a bit, enough to get a feel for it and to take the picture below. The repair is holding up surprisingly well, but it still makes me nervous! I MIGHT try to shoot a couple dozen arrows through it, but it's ultimate fate is probably a wall-hanger.
In anticipation of my next build, how does it look (other than the wrap of course)? I thought the tillering went fairly well.
