Space between air hose forms?

What have you found to be the best distance between the upper and lower part of your bow form when using the air hose method?  Building my first bow form and looking for advice.
Genesis 27:3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me [some] venison

Obviously depends on hose diameter of course but with 1 1/2'' hose then as scottm says 1 1/4'' works for me.
