bear take down limbs?
« on: September 12, 2012, 10:25:00 PM »
Hey everyone. This winter I'm planning on making my first longbow, after that I was thinking that if I already have the hot box why not try something else. I'm thiking of making some nice limbs for a bear minuteman that I have. Can I just trace the limbs to make a template, measure stack at a few places to find the taper rate and go to town?

More or less that is how I would copy that bow. Some people would say you need to take into account that your old bear limbs have had minor set and your new limbs will take some set so try to take that into account if you want an "exact" replica...

Please post some pics and keep us updated.
