Glassbow handle, string alignment
« on: September 18, 2012, 11:47:00 PM »
My most recent bow that I am working on is giving me fits.  The string is centered down the limbs, but is some how off in the handle area.  For the life of me I cannot get my head wrapped around what is going on.

It is at least 1/4 inch out in the handle, i used a small square to determine this, has anyone ever had a problem like this before?  It is my first time seeing this, and I have a few glass bows under my belt.

Any thoughts on how this will affect my bow?

Centered down the limbs and off on the handle ???????????

That just doesn't make sense to me unless you somehow cut your handle section off center.

Can you post a pic?

I can try but the earliest I can get a picture is tomorrow maybe friday.  Assuming that that is what I did, how can I correct it?

If the string is centered down both limbs then the riser has to be offset (not centered). You might shift the string groves on each limb to center the riser if you have that much width in the limb tips or shorten the bow and shift the string groves and reshape the limbs. Pull a stright line down the center of the limbs with the bow unstrung and see if the same thing occurs, you could have some twist in the limbs when strung. Where are you located in Mississippi?

Good luck

We have spoken here before, I live off of I20 around Newton if you know where that is..  It is between Jackson and Meridian.  We were suppose to meet up sometimes to check each others work out, but for me life and its busyness has taken over.
