length of limbs on 66" bow
« on: September 21, 2012, 10:50:00 PM »
I'm working on a new bow. The core is ipe. I decided on a 66" bow. The riser I am looking at from 3 rivers is 17" long. If I leave it 17" long that eats up a lot of the working portion of the limbs. What's the average length of the limbs on a 66" bow vs the length of the riser? Impart wisdom below..

I only build glass bows. I used a 18 1/2" riser with long thin fades in this 66" R/D longbow, I also added a "powerlam" to the bow that runs 3 inches past the end of each fade..I have used 17 to 21 inch long risers with long thin fades in 64" R/D longbows

That's a nice bow by the way...I just noticed how it was laying on the deer. Almost looks like its a Texas longhorn. I haven't jumped into glass bows yet...not even sure where to start.
