I am taking some machining classes and for a project I thought I would make some taper sleds. How tight do the tolerances on the tapers need to be?

I bought some aluminum sleds from Kirkll , 2 were exact and one was off .001 on one corner. A pc of cellophane tape on bottom and it was good.
I don't know anything about maching, but was duly impressed!
