I found some Bamboo big enough for backing.

Is one species better than another? I have no idea, but this stuff is big enough to work and I can get as much as I need out of 3-4 sticks. How can I tell if it will work or not?

There are many different types of Boo. I believe Moso is the most common type used in backing bows. BBO bows are cool as heck and shoot very well. Downside of boo is it has a tendency to throw up splinters. And that just whizzes me right off:)

How big is it?  Any true bamboo should work for bow backing if it is big enough in diameter.

Minimum of 4" in diameter, 5" or larger is better.

I'm not sure if it is that big yet. I planed some down yesterday on a jointer and it does take a bunch of material off to get it flat. I'll have to go measure some of it and find out.
