What to do with boo?
« on: January 07, 2013, 12:04:00 AM »
So I broke my ipe as I stated in another post and have a flattened piece of boo with nothing to glue it to. What other cheap readily available wood could I use. I'm in Canada and Osage is impossible to get for a decent price the only cheap wood is maple, red oak or maybe hickory. Would any of those work?

That's very generous of you Tenbrook, my grain was good I think my end posts might have been a little high I had them 3.25" higher than mid posts. And my ipe may have been too thick it was 1/2" at flares tapering to 3/8" . Anyway I will let you know how things go on my end and thanks a lot for the offer!!

Good man tenbrook!

If you have any more boo, you can make a trilam with boo on the belly too!  Then use maple (or almost anything) for your core wood.

Schmidster, that sucks about your ipe!

Tenbrook, you da man!!! Good on you, sir!   :clapper:

You could go with hickory, so long as the boo is thin enough to not overpower it. Just a suggestion, but I would look into getting another piece of ipe, and make what you wanted to in the first place.

Either way, you still should get a shooter, so enjoy the ride!
