Gizmo?
« on: January 27, 2013, 02:49:00 PM »
How long does the pencil stick out in a gizmo? Saw how to make one but nothing on that unless I just flat out missed it (happens)
Thanks

Depends, further into the tiller process,it will stick out further, as the arc increases, (or as the radius of the circle decreases).
It probably protrudes anything from1 mm to maybe two or three mm.
I always start with it just protruding, pull the bow to the desired point, run the gizmo, and if it leaves no mark, twist the pencil out a fraction, and try again!
Until I start getting marks on the limb, if I lose the marks, then the pencil is not protruding enough.

When I use mine, I put the pencil flush, then run it along the belly while the bow is in my tiller stick to locate the lowest point. Then, I twist it down to where it nearly touches and run it up and down the limbs to mark. So far it works pretty well. Hope that helps.
