Dual shelf longbow anyone?
« on: April 11, 2013, 08:05:00 PM »
TaprI got some wood in this winter and got a piece of goncalo alves that came on 2 pieces needing to be glued together.  I normally haven't like that style but this got me thinking.  I could laminate these together with an I beam of fiberglass between.  This would give enough strength to do a dual riser longbow.  This is how it looked after cleaning off the glue and drawing it up on tape.

I plan to keep the width of the riser just above the shelf no less than 1/2".

I was sure i screwed up the belly side of the shelf and riser.  I use the oscillating edge sander too much sometimes.  But...after some more work, so far it is coming along nicely.

My school here in Michogan had another snow day.  Ice actually.  So i was able to work in this bow.

Did some more sanding on the limbs and riser.

You did well....I have 2 bows by Chad Holm with dual shelves, a longbow and a recurve! Nice job!!

Shoots great.  Only completely missed the target once from 15 yards with my first 5 arrows shooting lefty.

That's really good right? Hahahaha

I love how this bow turned out.

Eric, when shooting RH, arrow goes on left side of bow, and when shooting LH, arrow goes on right side of bow!
