Bruiser - overpowered fish bow
« on: April 29, 2013, 10:58:00 PM »
Here's a bow my brother requested:  A 60" recurve 60# @ 28" bowfishing bow with inserts for his AMS reel.  It's charcoal actionwood riser and limbs with a carbon core.  The blue is some quarter sawn sycamore that I vacuum dyed blue.  He's a south-paw, so the full draw pic is as good as I could muster.  I did shoot a dozen arrows through it.  I'm not sure I can be a good switch hitter, but I can make do if I have to.        Enjoy the pics!

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.  I had to concentrate a bit more, but after a few I was pretty accurate.  Although I didn't get further than 10 yards.

Looks awesome! Can you show a pic of the unstrung profile please? Is there deflex at the fades or do limbs leave straight?

Now, there is a very slight reflex right after the fades, but hardly any, really. I'd get a pic for you, but he's already taken it. Hopefully he'll shoot some big carp and gar tonight.

Igor, unfortunately, I haven't converted him from the wheelie bow on anything but fish, yet. But with any luck I can get him to try this one this fall. I know once he sticks a deer he'll be hooked!

Very good looking bow, I have always like a large riser in a recurve.
