best way to remove weight?
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:22:00 PM »
I came in about 5 or 6 lbs heavy on a glass r/d Longbow and was wondering is it better to trap it or sand the belly and back glass to remove the weight???   :dunno:

Thanks for any help
Al

I would definitely trap it first... I trap all mine anyhow  :)  But if it was already trapped and I needed to lose more weight, I would try to narrow it before I thinned the glass... if possible.

I'd trap before I'd sand the glass. If you can narrow the limbs and round over the edges more I'd do that first.

I usaly lose 2-3 lbs. on finish sanding whih includes a good edge rounding. I have done a couple just lately-one I got 4lbs.and the other 2lbs just by rounding the front edges. Belly rounding helps but not as much as rounding the front edges.
