Unknown Yew Bow
« on: June 18, 2013, 09:48:00 AM »
I found a yew bow at a house flooded out by Katrina.  Its in rough shape.  Can some of you answers some questions for me.  I've put the pics on my web page.  http://www.rodretriever.com/Yewbow/Yewbow.html
Is there anyone close in Louisiana that can repair the damage?  Where was this bow made?  What is the skin and what is the hand wrap made of?  Any information about this bow is appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Are you sure it is yew? Rawhide backed, not in really bad shape but would need to have the rawhide replaced. It was a fine bow in it's day, I am guessing it is from the 20s possibly earlier.

Wouldn't be hard to restore. Dire Wolf on the stickbow site has restored a pile of these types of bows in the past, don't know if he still does.
