First one finished on a while

Pignut Hickory. Finished out at 72" tpt. 1 3/4" at fades to midlimb tapering to 7/16 tips. Pulls 51@28. Has buffalo horn tip overlays too but forgot to photograph them.  Handle wrap is deerskin.  Critques welcomed.

I did put in 12 hours heat treating the belly. put a small block under the handle and clamped the tips to the table. Didn't measure it but I'd say it had 1.5 to 2 inches of reflex after the heat treat. Still holding a little reflex after it's relaxed. Flat just after unstringing but crawls back after a few minutes.

I think it's awesome. But I do have a question if some of y'all don't mind. I am only on my second shooter so bare with me if my question is rather elementary. I noticed the riser is very short and does not fade into the limbs smoothly. My bows are very similar in that area. I have experienced some riser movement issues that I am not sure about. So I guess my question would be...how should the fades taper into the limbs on the belly? My risers are 10-10.5" total with fades and all. I also am wondering if there are advantage/ disadvantages to riser thickness...and advantage/ disadvantage to several layers of wood in the riser with tb2 in between layers? Oops a few questions there! I sure would value the opinions of you bowyer geniuses if you'll chime in! Thanks

I am just an amatuer myself but I will share what I've learned so far.
Looks you are making laminated bows and I have zero experience with that. But when making selfbows I use a 4 inch handle and 2 inch fades. On a selfbow, any longer than that is waste, especially on a shorter bow, because you are taking away wood from the limbs that could be working to fling the arrow. As far as handle thickness goes, you have to leave the handle thick enough to not be working (for a stiff handled bow of course). My standard thickness is 1 1/2 inches. But if you were doing a lighter weight bow you might get away with a slightly thinner grip but I haven't experimented with that.
